A DAMAGING HEAVY SWELL WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR OPEN WATERS OF SOUTHERN COOKS.
Situation:
A high pressure system to the far south of Southern Cooks generates a
strong southeast wind flow and damaging heavy swells over the group.
Meanwhile, a southeasterly wind flow prevails over the group.
A trough of low pressure with cloud and showers affects Northern Cooks.
Forecast to midnight tonight for the Southern Cooks:
Over waters: Southeast winds 20 to 25 knots.
Over land: Moderate to fresh southeast winds, gusty at times.
Rough seas.
Damaging heavy swells up to 4.0m.
Expect sea-flooding over the southern coastal areas of Southern Cooks
especially during high tides.
